Advantages of the Living Books Approach

The primary advantage of the Living Books approach to homeschooling is that students are motivated to learn. This advantage is built into the course material because living books are (by definition) never boring. This leads to a homeschool classroom where students are excited to start the day.

The second major advantage of this type of curriculum is that classroom emphasis is placed on experiential learning rather than the dry book learning. This tends to foster both a quicker uptake of the material being studied and better retention of the items once they are learned.

The use of a living book curriculum strengthens both the skills of observation and reading comprehension. These are key skills for any students to learn and serve as greate educational assets.

Lastly, the living books approach allows for a great deal of imagination and creativity on the part of both the teacher and the student.
